Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Safe Solo, pricing, and how we keep solo travelers safe.

When does my trip pass activate?

Your trip pass activates immediately upon purchase. You can start using all premium features right away, including real-time alerts, check-ins, and route safety checking.

What's the difference between 14-day and 30-day Trip Pass?

Both include the same premium features. The 14-day pass ($14.99) is perfect for short vacations up to 2 weeks. The 30-day Extended Trip pass ($24.99) is for longer trips up to a month — a better per-day rate than buying two 14-day passes.

Who should choose Frequent Traveler vs Digital Nomad?

Frequent Traveler ($49/year) is for people who take multiple trips totaling 30+ days per year — it saves money vs. buying individual passes. Digital Nomad ($99/year) is for full-time travelers spending 75%+ of their time on the road, with unlimited active days and exclusive features like AI trip planning.

Can I pause my trip pass?

Yes! If you return home mid-trip, you can pause your pass. The time paused will be added back to your trip duration. This feature is available within 60 days of purchase.

What happens after my pass expires?

After your pass expires, you'll revert to our free tier. You can still access safety scores, read reviews, and plan trips. Premium features like real-time alerts and check-ins will be unavailable until you purchase a new pass or subscribe.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all plans. If you're not satisfied, contact support within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.

Is my payment information secure?

Absolutely. We use Stripe for payment processing, which is PCI-compliant and trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. We never store your credit card information on our servers.

What data do you use for safety scores?

We aggregate data from verified news sources, government advisories, community reports, and our own intelligence pipeline. Safety scores are updated in real-time and reflect current conditions, not just historical data.

How does the check-in system work?

Set a check-in interval (e.g., every 4 hours). If you miss a check-in, your emergency contacts are automatically notified with your last known location. It's a dead man's switch designed for solo travelers.

Is the free tier really free forever?

Yes. You can research safety data for any city, read neighborhood breakdowns, and browse community reviews without ever paying. Premium features like real-time alerts and check-ins activate only when you purchase a trip pass.
